Our story
L'aventure commence en 1994 : Mr Fathi Majdoub becomes the official distributor for Husqvarna Forest & Garden in Tunisia, under the Ets Fathi Majdoub. This pioneering partnership marked the beginning of a lasting leading position in professional equipment.
En 2008, the business took its current form with the creation in Sfax of the Société du Matériel Agricole et Maritime — SMAM — a family business run by the Majdoub family, built on experience, trust and high standards.
The current structure takes shape with the creation of SMAM Distribution en 2022, dedicated to the marine sector under the SMAM Marine brand, then of SMAM Garden en 2023, dedicated to gardening under the AKAL brand.
Today, SMAM continues to grow as a trusted supplier of quality products, technical expertise and after-sales service throughout Tunisia.

Trading as AKAL, SMAM Garden is the exclusive distributor of watering systems and garden tools from Gardena, joined by McCulloch garden machinery, the designer planters Lechuza and power tools Cat® Power Tools.
Under the SMAM Marine, SMAM Distribution equips fishermen, professionals and leisure boaters, with a dedicated technical service: marine parts and consumables YMM — YamaMotor International, direction hydraulique Glydus et Multisteer, hélices YHX, bilge pumps Catflo, instruments Tech, plastiques marins CAN-SB et Nuova Rade, revêtements XYF Marine, lubrifiants Yamalube and water sports equipment Jobe.
